Escape into the beauty of the Adirondacks this fall for an immersive photography workshop designed for photographers of all skill levels. Embark on a journey through one of the most stunning regions of New York, capturing the vibrant fall foliage, serene reflecting lakes, rugged mountain landscapes, and colorful macro scenes.

This hands-on photography workshop will take place over seven days in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, showcasing the region's rich natural beauty at peak autumn color. Participants will engage in daily photo excursions to iconic locations such as Lake Placid, the High Peaks, and picturesque trails surrounded by brilliant fall colors. Morning and evening shoots will offer optimal lighting conditions, while afternoons will feature critique sessions, photography tips, and technical lessons. Your instructor will cover topics such as composition, lighting, exposure, long exposure techniques, and post-processing. In addition to photography sessions, there will be time for exploring charming towns and capturing their historic charm.
Whether you're an experienced photographer or just starting out, this workshop is perfect for those looking to expand their skills, deepen their understanding of nature photography, and connect with fellow creatives.

Workshop Details:
Fitness level: / Moderate / This trip is good for any skill level photographer however we will be hiking approx 3-6 miles throughout the day. You need to be able to hike on woodland trails carrying your gear.
Gear: You will need a dslr or mirrorless camera, wide angle lens, circular polarizing filter, and tripod. Optional: macro lens for close ups
Skill Level: This course is excellent for any skill level photographer!

Our itinerary is flexible for light and autumn color conditions. Here is a sample of what you can look forward to:
Day 1 - Saturday, October 4
Evening:
Arrival and check-in at the workshop accommodation (not included).
Welcome dinner and orientation, meeting instructors and fellow participants. Overview of the week ahead.
Day 2 - Sunday, October 5
Morning (Sunrise - 10 AM):
Begin the workshop with a sunrise shoot focused on capturing expansive mountain vistas and vibrant autumn foliage. Instructors will guide participants through techniques for photographing sweeping landscapes in soft morning light.
Lunch Break
Afternoon (2 PM - Sunset):
Focus on refining landscape composition. Participants will explore different vantage points to create dynamic images of the surrounding forested hills and mountains, using elements like paths, trees, and streams to frame their shots.
Day 3 - Monday, October 6
Morning (Sunrise - 10 AM):
Capture the early light over serene waters framed by colorful fall trees. This session will focus on reflections and how to best photograph still water at sunrise to create depth and symmetry.
Lunch Break
Afternoon (2 PM - Sunset):
A session dedicated to capturing the character of the forest landscape. Participants will photograph the rich textures and warm tones of autumn leaves, learning how to highlight contrasts and layers in the woods.
Day 4 - Tuesday, October 7
Morning (Sunrise - 10 AM):
Capture the golden hues of autumn with a session dedicated to photographing mountain ridgelines bathed in early morning light. Participants will learn how to utilize foreground and background elements to create depth in their shots.
Lunch Break
Afternoon (2 PM - Sunset):
Focus on photographing scenic valleys with rolling hills and vibrant foliage. Techniques will be discussed on how to frame the landscape to create a sense of vastness and highlight the rich colors of the season.
Day 5 - Wednesday, October 8
Morning (Sunrise - 10 AM):
The morning shoot will focus on capturing dramatic skies as the sun rises over rugged mountain terrain, with an emphasis on lighting and shadow play to enhance the fall colors.
Lunch Break
Afternoon (2 PM - Sunset):
Explore shooting across a series of small streams and rivers, using long exposure techniques to soften the movement of water while emphasizing the surrounding vibrant foliage.
Day 6 - Thursday, October 9
Morning (Sunrise - 10 AM):
Begin the day with a sunrise shoot focused on capturing the subtle interplay of light on the rugged terrain and colorful autumn trees. Participants will focus on balancing the warm tones of autumn with the changing light conditions.
Lunch Break
Afternoon (2 PM - Sunset):
A session dedicated to photographing quiet trails framed by trees. Participants will experiment with different perspectives and compositions, learning how to use winding paths and roads to lead the viewer’s eye into the frame.
Day 7 - Friday, October 10
Morning (Sunrise - 10 AM):
The final morning session will focus on capturing the fall landscape from a higher perspective, emphasizing panoramic shots that showcase the vibrant autumn foliage across the sweeping valley or mountain range.
Lunch Break
Afternoon (2 PM - Sunset):
The final afternoon will be spent photographing the afternoon and sunset light lakeside for a perfect ending to the trip’s photo sessions.
Day 8 - Saturday, October 11
Morning (Sunrise - 9am):
A final sunrise gathering, before departure to end the trip.
This carefully crafted itinerary focuses exclusively on capturing the stunning autumn landscapes, helping participants hone their skills in photographing vibrant fall colors, dramatic skies, rugged terrain, and tranquil woodland scenes throughout the week.

Cancellations Policy
Should you wish to cancel with at least 60 days notice your reservation can be deferred to another trip. No refunds/transfers will be given within 60 days of the trip dates.

Included: Photo planning, instruction, and location scouting, accommodations unless otherwise noted
Excluded: Meals, transportation, gratuities, personal items, travel insurance, other items of a personal nature
Travel Insurance
Guests are responsible to obtain travel insurance. You can often add this on from your airline when booking your flight or through a third party service. We are not responsible for delays, inclement weather, travel cancellations, or costs associated with weather or travel disruption.
Wildlife Participation
By joining this trip you agree to the understanding that the natural landscapes and wildlife are wild. We will make every effort with the lodge and guides to be in hotspot locations but we cannot guarantee that our flora and fauna will cooperate.
